Wilf:
I did merge those two planes and with a little tweaking of wing incidence, it produced a fun powered glider which i was able to thermal one day, but I'm looking to move up to a Radian for more performance.
My plane has a camera slot right up front.

Gary:
Can you post the executive summary?

Thanks, Wilf.
I guess if I merge the Blue Floater body with Simple Soarer wing, I should call it the Bue Soarer (or the Simple Floater?)

Wilf:
I have built 6 different Flite test designs and I find them great fun, but one common weakness.- the wing construction. They work well in flight, but have a tendency to "dish" after a bit of handling. I "solved" it by putting extra spars and a few ribs. It adds a bit of weight, but you can deal with it.
I did this on my second FT Versa wing, and also reinforced the LE under the spot that I hold it to  discus launch. The Versa 2 also has a CF spar, added after a crash which the foam spars didn't handle too well. Anyway it still floats like a butterfly, and is about my favourite plane.
Do you remember my Blue floater? I found that the fuse on the FT Simple Soarer was too weak. so I threw it away and am keeping the wing to mount on the old "Blue Baby" , I might see you up there!

Buy, Sell, Trade or Give Away / Pitts Special - Hobby King
« on: April 19, 2017, 08:51:11 AM »

This is a great little plane in very good shape cosmetically and structurally. It is light and lively. I'm selling it because I have two!

It has an upgraded motor and esc, (BP 2217-09) and I added a second wing servo so you can trim L&R ails separately. The red cowling is a replacement because the new Pitts cowling doesn't come in blue. I also improved the electronics bay depth and hatch. The landing gear is larger and more robust than the kit gear, but the original gear with wheel spats is a part of this offer. Also I replaced the 10x4 prop with a 3-bladed one.
Here's what HK has to say:

The HobbyKing® ™ Brushless Pitts Special is as exciting to look at as it is to fly!
It's scale details complete with wheel pants and Pitts livery make it a very attractive plane, however the excitement doesnt stop there! This little foamie is equipped with 4 ailerons to give spirited aerobatic performance and the included oversize outrunner and 10x4.7 prop gives more than enough power for all aerobatic flight, and when you feel the need to turn it up a notch just switch the 10x4.7 for a 11x4.7 propeller for hovering capability! All this and still this little foamie is very controllable at slow speeds. This plane loves a walking speed fly-by.A combination of scale looks, excellent flight characteristics and great power plant make this foamie a real winner.
Specs:
Length: 760mm
WingSpan: 860mm
Weight: 540g
Motor: ESC: 20A brushless

I'm asking for $60, firm, add your receiver, bind n' fly

Looking for only $60 to cover some of the gear, I need the hangar space.

BUT WAIT!!

Good reminder.
I spend a lot of time in our bush, guess why, and there a lot of deer lies, but you know, I've never picked up one. If you go in, tuck in your socks and a good DEET spray helps. Also, light-coloured clothing.
And a fun thing about ticks - get your significant other to check you all over (nude of course) when you get home!

Yeah, I think I got carried away. It was great at the finish line today but what's next? I guess I'd better fix up what I've got.
Not driving, I can't get out tomorrow, sorry.

You can see the Birch spar on one of the photos and after your crash, I wish I had done it to the fuse, but I could always put it along the bottom of the fuse, it would help on landings. It was great on Terry's tummy.
Funny,  I started this thread and didn't see all the posts because I was sick.
Gord, I also use that birch for scuffplates where the elastics go, and as stress plate around the rods that catch the rubber bands, love it!

She's finished! and RTF - Gord!
Photos here!
I forgot to put the the splitter in for the ails as I want to keep aux1 free for the 20mm cannon. Other than that, where is the sun?
She balances right on the main spar, about 25% of chord. I forgot to weigh it, back atcha.

My root chord is 9" and it tapers straight to 5" at the wingtip. It looks scale, and I may have to add some area. That's why my removable wing mod will come in handy, I can have two wings and try them both!
Made a bit of progress yesterday, the fuse and firewall are together, I'm just trying to figure out the tail-feathers.
