Posting Documents
« on: February 26, 2011, 10:25:52 AM »
You can post certain types of documents as Attachments; however, you want others to be be able to read them. So, while you may have created something in, say, Word, it should be converted to a more universal form, specifically a PDF file.

Anyone should be able to read a PDF file, either within their usual Word or such program, or via the free downloadable Acrobat product.

Creating a PDF is possible right from within Word - perhaps a bit convoluted and not via exactly the same technique from version to version of Word. If you want to do so, but do not know how, ask in this Topic and we will get an answer to you, and others.

The other, and I think best, way to handle this and many other document types, is to use Open Office. Go to  and download your copy. It is simple, fast and no expertise is required to install it.

Even if you already have Word or a similar proprietary package, you can continue to use Open Office as well. It has vast capabilities, including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, etc., that match and sometimes exceed the usual packages you buy. You should be able to input and read virtualy anything you come across and you will have many choices as to which format you wish to output your own creations.

Good luck!

For the Mac users:

Neo Office is a port of Open Office for the Apple Mac line of computers.  It is a free download and the download site can be Queens so it goes fast.  It has a function under the menu item 'File' - 'Export as PDF'.

Hsere's a great little freeware program.
It's called CutePDF
Once installed it adds a "pdf" printer to your computer.
Anything that can be sent to a printer can be sent to this and it will create a PDF document from it,
